Statement From Fiera Foods Regarding the National Day of Mourning

Friday, Apr 27, 2018

“The National Day of Mourning is a time for employees and workers alike to commemorate those who have been killed, injured or suffered illness as a result of occupational incidents.

Our employees work hard to provide for their families. Every employee – full-time, part-time, and temporary – deserves a safe and health place to work.

As employers, we all must remain vigilant to prevent injuries and deaths in the workplace. At Fiera Foods, we remember Amina Diaby and the tragic 2016 accident that claimed her life. That event continues to serve as a powerful reminder of the constant need for employers to strive to do better.

There will be days ahead to discuss the many steps we have taken, and the work our family company has done to ensure Fiera Foods grows as a healthy, safe workspace. But today, I’m proud to stand solemnly with the workers of Fiera Foods in remembrance of all workers who have been impacted by workplace deaths or injuries.”
